Welcome to the May 2014 Natural Living Blog Carnival: Green Moms.
This post was written for inclusion in the monthly Natural Living Blog Carnival hosted by Happy Mothering and Crunchy Farm Baby through the Green Moms Network. This month, our members are talking about how they take time to care for themselves. Stop by all of the posts to get green ideas on how you can take better care of yourself .
I don’t know about you but I love the way my skin feels after a facial. Unfortunately, facials are not a common occurrence for me. I have a friend, who is an Esthetician, who has given me great advice about taking care of my skin. You can actually read my interview with her here from last year.
I don’t get facials as often as I would like to, but that doesn’t mean I can’t treat my skin at home. I try to use a facial scrub a couple of times a week. I prefer to do this in the shower, otherwise I don’t make time for it. I try to get a mask on my face at least once a month. I would like to do it more often, but I forget and I am sometimes too lazy to do it!
One thing that is always important when it comes to what I put on my skin is that it is all natural. I prefer simple scrubs and masks, only made with natural and organic ingredients.
One of my favorite facial scrubs is a simple lemon, honey, and sugar mixture. I just take 1 teaspoon of raw sugar, a small dollop of raw honey, and freshly squeezed lemon juice. Mix it together with your fingers then scrub it all over your face, letting the sugar exfoliate your skin. This also makes a great lip scrub. You can mix this up and take it with you in the shower, using the scrub all over your body if you like. You can also add in a couple of drops of Lavender Essential Oil if you are feeling stressed.
I also make a mask using powdered . I mix the clay with water right before I use it. I rub it on my face and spritz it with rose water. After it dries, I rinse it off. It leaves my skin feeling clean and smooth!
Take care of your skin naturally. If you don’t make your own scrubs and masks, just read the ingredient list to make sure you are not putting preservatives and artificial colors all our your face.
