Over the past few years my husband has grown accustomed to drinking beer. I prefer wine and a the very least, lighter beer. Currently, one of my husband’s favorite beers is IPAs. When I saw an opportunity for my husband to brew his own beer, I knew he would love it.

The Brooklyn Brew Making Kit comes in either a Chestnut Brown Ale or Everyday IPA. The Chestnut Brown Ale uses freshly roasted chestnuts giving it a rich, sweet and mellow flavor, while the Everyday IPA has more of a citrusy aroma and uses Columbus and cascade hops to create the 6.8% brew.
Making your own beer from scratch is easy! The kit come with everything you need to brew including: 1 Gallon Glass Fermenter, Airlock, Tubing, Thermometer, Tubing Clamp, Packet of Sanitizer, Stopper and Blowoff Attachment. The instructions to make both beers can be found online and easily downloaded.
I look forward to making this with my husband. Unfortunately he has been sick so we haven’t had a chance to brew yet. We are looking to clear an afternoon to start the process. The first couple of steps take a few hours and you are left with “wort”. Then the wort needs to sit for about to two weeks to fully ferment. Then you bottle it and let it sit for another couple of weeks! Sounds like a lot of work from where I am sitting, but I really think my husband will enjoy this experience. I will be posting about our beer making journey once we get started, so stay tuned!
