Every member of my family packs a lunch for school. As a substitute teacher, I try to pack some healthy snacks and a lunch to get me through my day. My husband, as a grad student, is in his office for a majority of the day, so it is nice to pack him a lunch instead of him buying one everyday.
One thing I really like in a lunch box is compartments to keep things separated. I either do a couple small containers or find one large container with the compartments. Sunsella has created the Buddy Box, a bento style lunch box. The box is not leakproof, but can be used in the microwave, freezer, and dishwasher. The box is BPA free. The Buddy Box’s come in a set of 4 with colored lids.
The bento style box has three compartments: one large and two smaller. The large one is perfect for a salad or a sandwich, while the two smaller are great for fruit, crackers, carrots, or any other small side. I like how it keeps everything separated, while only leaving me one dish to wash! Since the compartments are not leakproof, I would not toss in applesauce or yogurt. This lunch box can be placed directly in a backpack or purse, with no need for an actual bag.
The lid pops on and off easily, which is great for my kids because they have to open and close them on their own. The boxes stack nicely on top of each other so I can make the lunches the night before and stack them in the fridge overnight. The colored lids allow me to easily recognize which box belongs to which person.
