I met up with Blue Avocado, a company committed to sustainability through reusable products, at Expo West this past week. Their reusable products are designed to be used instead of disposable plastic bags. Their belief is that life should be simple and practical, and that by using reusable products we are preserving the earth.

Reusable Bags for Any Occasion from Blue Avocado

I was given a (re)zip large travel bag and an (eco) hip pod.

Blue Avocado’s line of (re)zip bags come in a variety of sizes and can be used for just about anything! These bags can be used for food or storage, and they are more durable than your average velcro reusable bags. The (re)zip bag is see through and it is perfect for travel and designed to fit shampoo bottles, lotions, and other sundries for travel. The bag is made with FDA grade peva film and is PVC free. The bag is machine washable but needs to line dry. The large bag measures 10.5” x 11”h. The best feature is the durable zipper that keeps what you want packed inside.

As you can see from my picture above, I could easily take this with me to the airport with my bath and body products inside. Or I can use it to keep my crafts together on a car ride. The possibilities are endless. I once used this bag at a farmers market instead of a disposable produce bag!

Blue Avocado

The (eco)hip pod is a cross body reusable bag. This messenger style bag is perfect for shopping! It rolls up in a pouch, which it is great to keep in your car or in your purse. It can hold up to 20 lbs and is machine washable. The bag is made from 50% post-consumer recycled bottle fabric from REPREVE®, is machine washable, and is pvc, lead, & bpa free. The (eco) collection was designed by Lauren Conrad.

This is the perfect bag to keep in my purse. I prefer cross body handles because I like to keep my hands free. You never know when you will need an extra bag, so why not keep one on you or even in the car?

If you are looking to decrease your use of plastic bags, then check out Blue Avocado’s multi-functional lines. They are both stylish and will reduce the amount of waste going to our landfills. The large (re)zip travel bag is $4.99. The (eco) hip pod is $9.99 and 1% of profits is donated to ocean research & conservation.

What is your favorite reusable product?
My favorite reusable products are the wipes we have around the house! Some for kitchen (instead of napkins/paper towels) and family cloth in the bathroom. I’m trying to use more reusable bags when we go grocery shopping, but I usually forget! That, and we do like to have stash of plastic bags on hand as we use those as our garbage bags. But, there is always a way to improve! This set looks REALLY handy!

I have many reusable products and always looking to add more. My favorite is probably wool dryer balls. So great for the environment as I don’t have to use nasty chemical dryer sheets. Reusable bags are at top of my list too. Really like the eco hip pod. Great for farmers market shopping!!!

Love that they donate a % of profits tos ocean research & conservation. I hate plastic shopping bags and these look like a great alternative as they fold up into a small ball great for keeping one in your bag if you’re walking or taking the bus, and several in your car for shopping. Nice product, thanks for the intro and review.
