My family loves to play games together. I’m excited to see my kids wanting to play games and interact as a family. One game that recently made its way into our home was Reverse Charades Junior edition.

Family Game Night with Reverse Charades

What exactly is Reverse Charades? Reverse Charades is the exact opposite of the classic charades game where one person acts out and the team guesses. With Reverse Charades, the team members act out the words, while one team member guesses. The entire team has 60 seconds to act out as many words as they can and every word guessed correctly is one point. The team with the most points at the end of the game is the winner. My kids are still learning to read, so we just have fun with the game, but hopefully soon we can rotate to have one person guess while the other three act it out!

Here is an example:

Reverse Charades comes in both an Original and Junior edition. They each come with 720 words and a sand timer. The Junior edition is designed for younger kids with easier and practical words. Reverse Charades also has expansion packs that will fit right in the box! These expansion pack themes include Sports, Holiday, Hollywood, Girl’s Night In, and Canadian. Each pack has 220 words. These expansion packs would be great for any upcoming parties including the Super Bowl, the Olympics, and the Oscars.

My kids are actually a little young for the game, but they love playing it, as you can see from the pictures. My daughter cannot read yet, so my husband and I take turns helping her. Right now we are working on getting creative with acting out the words. I am glad we have started playing this game while my kids are young; I want them to feel comfortable acting and playing with other people.

This game has already won so many awards: Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Platinum Seal 2011 award — Creative Child Magazine Game of the Year Award 2011 — Major Fun Keeper Award 2011 — NAPPA Gold Seal 2011 — Tillywig Laugh Out Loud 2011 — Dr. Toy Best Vacation Children’s Product 2011 — Parent’s Choice Award Spring 2011 — Mom’s Best Award 2011 — The National Parenting Center Seal of Approval 2011 — The Toy Man 2011-2012: Award of Excellence and e-Choice Award — KSL Studio 5 TV — Best New Family Game 2010.

You can purchase Reverse Charades and the expansion packs online. The Original edition is also available in 2,200+ stores (including Barnes & Noble, Hallmark, Learning Express and Books-a-Million). Both the Original and Junior games are $23.99 and the expansion packs are $9.99.
