My kids have only been in school for 2 weeks and I am trying to figure out how to keep them interested in their lunches. It is so easy to keep making PB&J, but I know they don’t want they every day. I don’t feed my kids lunch meat, so other sandwiches are not an option. This makes me think outside of the box. When I was searching for alternative lunch ideas, I thought that hummus and crackers would be a great option. I stumbled upon Way Better Snacks and loved their approach to healthier snacks.
Way Better Snacks is proud to be certified Gluten Free, Non-GMO Project Verified, Kosher and Vegan. They currently have a line of Tortilla Chips that are anything but ordinary! Their chips are special because they sprout their seeds and grains, which increases their nutrients, as well as makes it easier for your body to absorb them. Every serving of chips gives you 420mg of Omega 3 fatty acids. The Broccoli and Daikon Radish seeds contain sulphoraphane glucosinolate, which is the natural antioxidant found in broccoli. Last, but not least, each serving of chips contains at least 17 grams of whole grains. You can see why these chips are not your average tortilla chips.
Have I mention that they taste amazing? I was sent 6 bags of Way Better Snacks current line of tortilla chips. These flavors include: Simply Unbeatable Blues, Simply Sunny Multi Grain, Simply So Sweet Chili, Simply Sweet Potato, No Salt Naked Blue, and Simply Beyond Black Bean. So far I have tried the Unbeatable Blues and Black Bean chips and they are AMAZING! The sad thing is that I don’t want to share with my kids….I want them all to myself! I had a ripe avocado and some tomatoes so I mashed up the avocado and cut up the tomato and sprinkled some lime juice ovr it and ate it with a couple Black Bean chips. Yummmmmy!
This week for lunch my kids will be trying the Naked Blue chips with some cheddar cheese cut into cubes. I think that will make a good combination for lunch. I will pair it with a veggie and fruit. I also think these chips would taste good with hummus.
Even though these chips are a better choice, they are still chips. Moderation is key, especially with kids! My kids will get less than a recommended serving in their lunch because they do not need to eat a lot of chips. Remember that all packaged food is preserved in some way, even if it is natural. I appreciate that Way Better Snacks is transparent about their ingredients online so you can see every ingredient in each kind of chip.
